Beat the Fleet Tournament Info
Saturday, July 9th (Foul Weather Date July 16th)
This years tournament will be split into 2 regions. North and South, boundaries are the southern point of the Axle Carlson Reef (Oceanside) and the Point Pleasant Canal (Bayside). Anglers must depart NJ waters but there are no further borders for fishing.
Entry fees are collected as a single fee with eligibility to win prizes in both your region and overall. Calcutta options work the same way as there will be multiple prizes paid out for the single entry fee.
To those new to tournament fishing, calcutta’s are basically an additional optional entry for more eligibility to win more prize money. Our biggest money winners are always those entered into all the calcutta’s.
Boats may fish up to 6 anglers, for chartered vessels the captain and mate count as crew members whether or not they are fishing throughout the day.
Due to the changes in this years regulations we’ve decided to change the format of our event. Boats will weigh in their heaviest two summer flounder (fluke) and are eligible to win prizes for both fish. i.e. a single team could finish in both 1st and 2nd place in both the regional and overall categories. Netting the top payout of 50% of overall entries and 17.5% of regional entries.
Last years tournament paid out $36,340 and had 46 entries.

***How the fishing club makes money on the tournament.
We pay about 4% in processing fees on all transactions. We reserve 30% of the money from the entry fees and 10% of the monies from the calcutta’s. After the processing fees are deducted the club retains about 26% and 6% respectively. The rest of the monies are paid out to the anglers. When our events are cancelled, we still have to pay processing fees and take a loss.
Our goal is to be completely transparent during all of our events. We will post all of the entry’s and breakdowns the morning of the event and the results as soon as they are confirmed.
We charge a registration fee to offset these costs against past and future losses.
